About Us
AÉSISSA
AÉSISSA is registered as an official student association under the Graduate Students Association (GSAÉD) of the University of Ottawa. All students enrolled in the ÉSIS program (full-time or part-time), are all automatically members of AÉSISSA.
We promote a bilingual environment and encourage all students to participate in AÉSISSA and/or GSAÉD activities in the official language of their choice.
AÉSISSA is the Information Studies Student Association. We are here to help, support and answer all questions students might have about the program and the different options available to them. We also organize events and social gatherings to connect the people in our program to fellow students, teachers and information professionals in the field.

President
Michael Wells

Michael is a third-year MIS student studying part-time with hopes of becoming an academic librarian. He is currently working for the University of Ottawa in Residence Life for the Student Health, Wellness and Support department. Outside of school and class, he enjoys playing D&D, going to the gym/yoga and cooking!
Finance Officer
Sophie Lawall
Sophie is a second-year student in MIS. She's interested in becoming an academic librarian, but is also eager to learn more about where this field can take her. For the moment, she's a host at the Canadian History Museum and the Canadian War Museum and, in her spare time, she enjoys reading fantasy novels of all stripes, playing tabletop games, and spending time outside.

Leigh is in her third (and final) year of the MIS program as a part-time student. She currently works for Public Services and Procurement Canada as a project manager, with plans to switch into information management after graduation and completion of her thesis. In her free time, Leigh is an avid reader and writer, and also enjoys gaming, camping, and cooking.

Hi everyone! I'm Mayra, a second-year MIS student. Beyond the world of information studies, I'm passionate about drawing and painting portraits, and staying fit through weight training. I love exploring new places and trying out diverse cuisines. I'm excited about the opportunity to connect with fellow students and build a supportive community as we navigate through this program together!

Afaf is in her second year of the MIS program. She joined as a GDIM student but switched to masters in her second term. She currently works in Environment and Climate Change Canada as an information architect and volunteers as a web designer for a mental health organization in Tanzania. In her free time, you’ll find her taking long walks, binge watching short series, or stuck in her IG feed
